Is this normal? It looks flat when I stand up but looks terrible when I lean over. I did have fluid removed on one visit, but nothing on further visits. Could it be that the skin didn't attach?
Answer: Skin laxity after a tummy tuck - it will never be perfectly tight A tummy tuck removes excess skin and tightens your abdomen. However you have to realize that when you bend over you will have some folds form and have some loose skin. Had you surgeon made your abdomen nice and tight when you bend over, you wouldn't be able to straighten out.Of course it is possible that you have more laxity than would be expected after tummy tuck. Pictures would be helpful.Younger patients with healthier and more elastic skin tend to do better after a tummy tuck. Older patients or massive weight loss patients have poor elasticity and are more likely to have loose skin when bending over because the skin doesn't contract.

Answer: See your surgeon if the sagging is very obvious How much sagging are you seeing? Your skin needs to be a little loose when you bend over because this allows for it to stretch when you stand up straight. If it is excessive, you may want to see your surgeon again in a follow up to express your concerns. Best of luck!

Answer: Excess skin? It's hard to determine whether this is a positive or negative. A picture would be helpful. When you bend over you may have some laxity of your skin. Skin folds and is dynamic. It is not rigid like a board. Again a picture would help.

Answer: Loose skin The reason most patients consider TT is that their skin has lost its elasticity. The TT removes the excess, but cannot restore what was lost. If you were tight while bent over, you would not be able to stand erect. While sitting, the chest and pelvis come closer together, and the skin buckles some. This happens even to patients without skin excess. You will not likely see a swimsuit model sitting--usually they are arched backward. without photos, it is not possible to offer anything more specific. All the best.
