5 days post op Breast implant, the pain is getting worse when will it subside?

Hi There!500 cc implants on your frame are on the large side.  Those are heavy implants and that can explain the pressure and tightness.  Either way, show your surgeon to make sure everything is OK.

You're probably okay be generally pain starts to subside in a few days after breast augmentation. It's possible that you could be collecting some fluid and this should be checked into by your surgeon.

Hi Ashlee.  I would recommend getting in to see your plastic surgeon to be evaluated.  Some pain is expected after surgery, but with your continued discomfort and bruising it would be best to be seen by your plastic surgeon as soon as possible.  Best of luck and thank you for the question.

Hi Ashlee, Thank you for sharing your question about pain five days after your breast augmentation surgery.  In my practice we see all of our breast augmentation patients the immediate day after surgery and again within the next week.  I'd recommend you discuss your pain in person with your plastic surgeon so you may have a medical evaluation.  Some pain is normal, however extreme pain needs to be checked out by your surgeon.  I hope this is helpful and wish you all the best.Brian S. At 5 days post-op most patients are feeling better but still sore. Your symptoms of bruising and increasing pain after breast augmentation are worrisome for either a seroma or hematoma.  Call  your plastic surgeon for a follow up appointment and exam. Best wishes. 

Pain is common and will subside at different rates for different patients. However, if the pain is worsening and you have significant swelling and bruising, then you should be seen sooner than later. How you should handle your current situation is under the guidance of your doctor.Continue to follow up with your surgeon to ensure that you progress as planned.

It is important to have an in-person medical assessment regarding this issue as it is difficult to determine virtually. Continue to update your doctor in the matter and follow their post-op protocol.
It is important to get cleared by your doctor before engaging in specific physical activity before the 3 month healing period has ended as the healing stage is crucial for healthy results.
It generally takes around 6 months to a year to see your final results. Your tissues will take time to relax and allow your implants to "Drop and Fluff" settling into place. Should a revision cross your mind, it is best to wait at least 6 months to a year before doing so.
Our tips for recovery following breast augmentation are to wear a supportive sports bra for 3 months post-operative and refrain from lifting anything heavier than 10 lbs for 3 weeks as we don't want any strain at your incision sites. Make sure to keep the area of your stitches clean by cleansing with hydrogen peroxide daily. Showering is encouraged! But, no sitting in water for 2 weeks following surgery (no baths, hot tubs, pools etc.).

Pain should subside by 5 days.  Not sure why you feel more pain.  This is a indication that you should go and see your surgeon.  There could be problems with infection or fluid collection or bleeding.   My Best,  Dr C
