More silicone cannot be added to your current implants. If you want a larger size, you a surgery to remove and replace them with a bigger implant.
Thank you for the question. If the asymmetry is very mild, some fat grafting could potentially even out the volume. Fat is taken from an area of excess like your waist or abdomen and then carefully threaded around the implant being careful not to puncture the existing implant. But, often times fat grafting can be more costly (because it takes more time) than simply exchanging an implant for a slightly larger size. Plus, fat grafts do not always 'take' to the expected volume and can require revision. It is not possible to add silicone to an existing implant but very easy (fast and with little downtime) to exchange an implant for a different size.
Thanks for your question. Unfortunately the implant volume cannot be adjusted. This would take an additional surgery. Best of Luck!
Hello, the vast majority of implants inserted are not adjustable. Technically there is and adjustable type of implant that is a combination of silicone on the outside and saline on the inside, called a Becker implant. However, it is not commonly used for cosmetic breast augmentation.
Thank you for your excellent question. Whereas saline implants are inflated at the time of surgery to reach a desired size, silicone implants arrive prefilled with a particular amount of gel. Once placed within the body, there is no way to adjust the size of the implant without exchanging it for another implant during another surgery. If your size asymmetry is significant, speak to your surgeon about your concerns. They want you to be happy and will work with you on a treatment plan to reach your goals.
Dear kisordj,Saline implants can be adjusted in size byadding or withdrawing saline because they have a valve. Silicone implants, however, are factory sealed, and there is no way to change the volume other than toreplace the implant with a different size. I hope this has been helpful.Robert D. Wilcox, MD
Thank you for sharing your breast implant question. Additional silicone cannot be added to silicone gel implants. They are packaged pre filled and then placed in the breast pocket during breast augmentation surgery. Should you wish for additional volume on one side, fat grafting could be an option, however it is costly and may also require additional revisions to achieve the desired volume. I hope this has beenhelpful and I wish you all the best.Brian S.Coan, MD, FACSRaleigh-DurhamPlastic Surgeon
Unfortunately no. Silicone implants are pre filled to a certain size. If you're unhappy with the size of your existing implants revisionary surgery is what I would recommend. Traci Temmen MD
The silicone implants are pre-filled to a specified amount. You cannot add silicone to them. If you want to change the size, that would mean replacing the implant with a larger one. Best wishes.
Hi Lauren,First and foremost the implant should fit the dimensions of your breast and tissue cover. Here are a few tips for you because this is perhaps the hardest decision for a patient to make, as well as the surgeon. But you should be able to pick your own size and it sounds like your PS is...
For saline implants, draining them in the office is a reasonable thing to do before deciding on new implants or removing them all together.
The way you describe your situation is consistent with a capsular contracture. However, this would need to be evaluated in person. The pain doesn't indicate cancer, but new changes to the breast should always be examined by a physician or through breast imaging. The treatment often requires...
