Answer: Maxilla Dear JudyPiretti, The greater changes are widening of the base of nose. The tip may become slightly elevated but not by much. The eyes will not change but the face and jaw will become shorter and rounder.

Answer: Depends... Hi Judy, This is a good question, and an important set of concepts to understand before undergoing this type of surgery. Unfortunately, the changes in your facial features depend on the exact type of surgery that you are undergoing, as all maxillary advancements are not the same (differences in the amount of movement planned, where the bones are cut, etc). Because this can/will vary a bit from surgeon to surgeon, it would be best to ask your chosen surgeon how the planned surgery will effect the rest of your facial features. You should be informed about all of the anticipated changes that will occur. Both you and your surgeon will be better off if you are well informed prior to surgery, so please don't hesitate to ask!! Hope this helps! dr. silver

Answer: Maxilla and facial features If it's a LeFort I type maxillary advancement then your lips/nose relationship should improve for the better. Your nose MAY appear more upturned, but mostly not as FORWARD in relation to your lips/teeth. Essentially, your nose will not appear to stick out as far. LeFort I type maxillary advancement will not change your eyes. LeFort II could possibly change your eye shape slightly. But, this will not change the Nose/Lip relationship. The nose will come forward WITH the lips/teeth. Hope this helps.
