Bruising and swelling are common when injecting fillers into the tear troughs. How long it lasts can vary from patient to patient and based on the technique used. In some cases it can last up to 2 weeks. I use microcannulas which significantly decreases the risk and severity of bruising and swelling. Cold compresses for the first 48 hours or Arnica can help for some people. Best of luck.
Hi @kathhayes! Swelling can take up to two weeks to subside. If you are unhappy with the results, you can dissolve the filler with Hyaluronidase. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!
Thank you for your question.Bruising and swelling are very common after injections. To minimize these try applying ice packs, avoid using NSAIDS- (ibuprofen, aspirin ,etc.) Arnica is also very helping in reducing sweeling and bruising.Hope this helps!
Thank you for the question. The swelling following injection of Restylane in the tear trough typically resolves in 5 days. The bruising can last up to 10 days. Cold compresses and Arnica might hasten recovery. Good luck.
I appreciate your question.Swelling can last a few days after treatment and bruising can last 7-10 days. You can ice injected area off and on and follow up with MD and inquire about Arnica pellets. They are homeopathic and can help expedite the resolution of your bruising. The best way to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon that specializes in aesthetic and restorative plastic surgery.best of luck!Dr Schwartz
Bruising and swelling can last about 2 weeks with tear trough treatme. Be sure that you are not taking any supplements that can increase bruising or thin the blood such as fish oil, omega-3 fatty acids, aspirin, ibuprofen or NSAIDs, green tea supplements, or alcohol. Arnica and icing can be helpful.
The best way to prevent bruising and swelling in the tear troughs is to use a microcannula to inject the filler rather than a needle. I would suggest finding an experienced doctor who uses microcannulas to inject the tear trough.
Hi @Tamaswingstar! I would recommend avoiding vigorous exercise after receiving dermal fillers and neuromodulators like Botox or Dysport. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!
The Tyndall effect is a blue coloration due to scattering of light from the filler. This does not look like that and it is most likely increased pigment due to the bruising and may not go away without some treatment--be sure you are seeing a board certified dermatoligist or plastic surgeon
Hi @MamaPhD. This would be highly unlikely. I have not seen filler migrate from the under eye area to the upper eyelid. I would recommend returning to your injector. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!
