Juvederm injections sore and swollen months after procedure.

Thank you for your question.  I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing delayed swelling and tenderness after your Juvederm treatment.  It is impossible to make an exact diagnosis or specific recommendations without assessing you in-person.  That said, it is possible that you are experiencing an infection in your filler, as others here have suggested.  I have also seen a small handful of patients who experience significant delayed swelling of their fillers, particularly around the mouth and lower face, shortly after a mild illness or seasonal allergy flare.  I suspect this is more due a heightened immune response to the fillers than a true infection.  Regardless, in any case, I would recommend a thorough evaluation by a cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon with extensive experience in managing filler complications.  Best of luck.

Thank you for your question. Yes, it is possible that the infection has spread to the areas that were injected with filler. I recommend having a follow up with your injector for evaluation and treatment. Your injector will probably want to treat this with antibiotic and possibly dissolve the filler. Best of Luck!

This is an unusual occurrence and should be evaluated by your doctor.  You should see improvement now that you have begun antibiotics if it is from an infection.

It is possible that the infection has spread to the areas of injection. I would seek out an evaluation for this. It probably needs to be treated with an antibiotic at least. Possibly have the filler dissolved.

Very unusually relationship after 5 months post injection. Could be a possible heres outbreak?? Best to see your Primary or injecting doctor to evaluate.

This is a well known complication that is easy to manage . Unlike due to the infection itself in the filler, but what is known as an antigen cross reaction. Your specailist filer injector will be very well versed in this rather commonly known reaction ( I think its more common in Vycross filler due to antigenic change in the molecules as they break down).Doxy anti-inflammatory, etc... over 3-8 weeks can help in most cases with out the need for Hylase . See your injector for advice and further medical management.
