Bruising after injectable fillers is not an uncommon occurrence and it appears that you have some bruising in your left upper lip.One thing that has helped to prevent bad bruising and also dissipate bruising faster are OcuMend gel patches. They are hydrogel patches that you put on the face immediately after injections and can wear them for up to 6 hours at a time. My patients have been so happy with them that they are starting to ask for them by name. See if your injector has them available for you.
Thank you for your question about post injection expectations. It is not uncommon to have swelling and bruising, especially immediately after treatment. Swelling can last for 3-4 days, but should subside during the day as you are up moving around. To be sure, see two or more experienced, licensed and board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.
Thank you for your question! Bruises from lip fillers are more common than you might think. According to Juvéderm and Restylane package inserts, 85% of patients reported bruising after lip filler procedures. On average, most patients bruised for at least three days, but more than a quarter still had bruises a week later. It may be best to follow up with your physician injector to evaluate whether it's a bruise or an intravascular event. The five studies included in the package inserts covered over 700 patients and practitioners with fairly consistent results. Even the best injectors can’t prevent bruising in this area. Next time, it helps to address bruising beforehand: avoid NSAIDs, herbal supplements, alcohol and green tea before your appointment.
Hi. Unfortunately without medical examination I can not tell for sure whether you have the complications you think you do. However, from the images it does look like a routine bruise that will go down in a few days. Please do go back to your doctor and let him/her have a look to reassure you. Thank you for your question. It is common to have some swelling and bruising after lip augmentation, which can take up 2 weeks to resolve. You can ice your lips to help resolve swelling and bruising. You can also take Arnica to help resolve bruising faster. If you are unhappy with your final results you can have the filler dissolved with an enzyme known as hyaluronidase. Please follow up with injector in 2 weeks for an evaluation. Best of Luck!
Thank you for your question and for submitting your photos. The lips are a particularly sensitive area, and are prone to swelling and bruising that can last up to 2 weeks after filler injections. That said, you do appear to have a little more bruising than I typically anticipate with lip filler injections - I suspect your injector may have injured a deeper blood vessel in your lips, causing a large, deep bruise. Gently applying ice or cool compresses to your lips may help the swelling resolve sooner. It may be worthwhile to follow-up with your injector to discuss your concerns, as certain lasers can help bruising fade faster. Best of luck!
Although not common, bruising like this can occur and is of no concern. We will treat this with a vascular laser to decrease the duration of the bruise to 2-3 days. Applying ice and taking arnica will help keep the bruise smaller and resolve it quicker. Bruising can last up to 14 days in some cases.
Hi There Thank you for your question. It is a very important point as bruising is actually not that common with lip fillers, depending on who does them. What I have seen recently is a lady injected by a beauty therapist with death of her lip tissue due to injection in to a blood vessel. Scary but true someone intelligent went to a beauty therapist for fillers. You would know due to the intense pain AFTER the injection and would need emergency intervention by a doctor experienced in these things. If this did not happen you should be ok.For you a cold compress will help but NOT ice as it will burn.Kind Regards Dr Dinesh Maini Zenith Cosmetic Clinics
Thanks for sharing your experience. Bruising and swelling are common after lip filler injection and will improve over the first 7-14 days after treatment. How would hang tight; this does not seem to be anything to worry about. If things do not start improving over the course of the new week or so, I would followup with your injector to discuss your concerns.
Thank you for asking the question.Bruising is not uncommon after lip fillers and you appear to have a small vessel injury. There is no need to worry about it. Just wait for few more days and it will disappear on its own. Regards, Dr. Amit Gupta
