A common large amount removed during liposuction of the abdomen only might be 1500-2000 mL. This is an estimate and each patient will vary greatly. In an AHCA approved outpatient ambulatory center I am not limited on how much I can remove. Safety dictates that you limit the amount to avoid an unsafe situation from too much loss of body fluid at one time. One easy measure is to remove less than 5% of total body weight (Example - 145 pounds is 67 Kg, 67,000 grams X 0.05 = 3350 mL). In a patient weighing 145 pounds the amount of removal should be limited to 3350 mL. This would be the total amount removed from all areas and it is unlikely this much would be removed from just the abdomen. Also keep in mind that often abdominal fat lies inside the abdomen along the mesentery and requires weight loss to reduce.
Hi. In the State of Florida there are certain rules that guide the amount of fat to be extracted. In an out patient setting when no other procedure is done, the limits are 4,000 CCs of pure fat. if combined with another procedure such as a tummy tuck, then the most you can remove is 1000 CCs. Base on thee numbers, you could easily remove what you desire in the abdomen. Without your photos, it's impossible to give you batter estimate. Good luck
5 liters is the max in most outpatient settings in the US. Iwould search for the board certified plastic surgeon who you feel ismost likely to give you the best results and who performs hundreds ofthese procedures each year. I would look at patient reviews as well asbefore and after photos on that surgeon's website.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
In the state of Florida, only 4 liters can be removed at an outpatient facility. Only 1 liter can be removed when combined with another procedure such as an abdominoplasty, etc.. If you are operated on in a Hospital greater amounts can be removed but the risk goes up as well. It is usually not wise to remove over 6-8 liters of fat. Talk to a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon and ask him/her all of your questions.
Removal of large amounts of fat during liposuction remains a debatable topic relative to safety. Most plastic surgeons limit the amount to four or 5 L but this is not yet a standard of care. Patients have to be dealt with on an individual basis.
The answer to this question depends on what is being done and where. In the state of Florida, patient safety regulations mandate that in an outpatient setting no more than 4 liters of fat can be removed at one time. However, if done on an inpatient basis (overnight hospital stay) more can be removed although most plastic surgeons wouldn't recommend doing more than 5-6 liters because there can be drastic shifts in body fluids if much more than that is done. In Florida, if liposuction is combined with any other type of surgery (e.g. breast aug, tummy tuck, etc) only 1 liter can be removed at the same time. It is very important that you are on a healthy diet of lean protein, veggies, some fruits and a regular exercise program with strength training to ensure that you are in the best possible shape and as close as you can get to a healthier body weight/safe BMI to prevent complications and to get the most optimal results. Please make sure that you consult with board certified/eligible plastic surgeons with experience in body contouring surgery. Good luck!
There are several different issues here:1. What is the most that can be removed? The total amount that can be removed could be up to 5 or 6 liters depending upon how much excess fat is present.2. How much can be removed safely? The amount that can be removed safely will depend upon multiple different factors. Such as the health condition and age of the patient and any other medical issues that may be present. Whether the procedure will be performed as an in patient or as an outpatient. What type of anesthesia care will be given before, during and after the procedure? etc3. How much can be removed and expect to get a good aesthetic result? The more fat that is removed, the more the skin of the abdomen will be deflated. Although there will be some shrinkage, the amount of deflation may exceed the ability of the skin to contract enough to give a good aesthetic result. If there is much excess skin prior to surgery, this will be made worse by liposuction alone. The best way to deal with excess skin to have it removed by a tummy tuck. Also if the fat layer beneath the skin is made too thin, then there can be uneven results. For the best results seek the consultation of a plasticsurgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. They have a websitelisting all the certified plastic surgeons. Members of the American Society ofAesthetic Plastic Surgery will all be board certified in plastic surgery andhave demonstrated an interest and competence in cosmetic plastic surgery aswell.

Liposuction can be a good option for removing the soft, fatty mass you describe on your neck, especially since it's been confirmed that your thyroid is normal. Liposuction works by suctioning out excess fat, which may help reduce the appearance of this mass. Given that the size changes with your...

If your surgeon prescribed antibiotics after liposuction this could cause diarrhea. You should report this to your surgeon.
