I assume you mean the front of the thigh. The answer is it depends. Convex areas like the front of the thigh are very unforgiving for uneven fat removal or liposuction access sites. The better question is- is liposuction of the front of the thighs right for "me". The answer would depend on the face to face physical examination findings. I have liposuctioned this area in patients but they are not the majority of liposuction patients. My response to your question/post does not represent formal medical advice or constitute a doctor patient relationship. You need to consult with i.e. personally see a board certified plastic surgeon in order to receive a formal evaluation and develop a doctor patient relationship in order to know if this assessment is valid.
This is one of my fav areas to lipo if you are a candidate. If it is not done properly it can give horrible results with irregularity and flatening. I suggest only going to an expert who specialzes in this type of leg liposuction. Best, Dr. Emer,
I would have see pictures or examine you to be able to make recommendations. Iwould search for the board certified plastic surgeon who you feel ismost likely to give you the best results and who performs hundreds ofthese procedures each year. I would look at patient reviews as well asbefore and after photos on that surgeon's website.Kenneth Hughes, MDLos Angeles, CA
It is possible to target the upper thigh in liposuction, but it's important that only a specific amount of fat is removed and it be done carefully to prevent contour irregularities. Being conservative is better. This area is often affected by loose skin as well, and a thigh lift is often better suited to achieving a patient's expectations.
Liposuction of the anterior superior thigh can be performed oftentimes is not a good idea. Nevertheless, if you pinch an area and is greater than an inch between you two fingers liposuction may have a role.
Liposuction can be safely performed on the outside of the thigh (the saddle bags). The inner thighs can also be treated with liposuction. In my opinion, I do not think that it is a good idea to perform liposuction on the anterior (front) of the thigh. There is a tendency for it to be uneven, and to have the skin "fall". It is a location that can safely be treated with Liposonix if there is sufficient fatty tissue.
Liposuction of the Anterior and Posterior Thigh was once considered a relative contra-indication, not an absolute contra-indication. In select patients with significant lipodystrophy circumferentially, then circumferential lipo is indicated. Patient needs to be aware of the possibility of contour abnormalities.
Dear Sea Siren,Liposuction is an excellent treatment for removing unwanted fat and reshaping the body if you have extra fat and minimal loose skin.Liposuction is a very versatile treatment and can be used throughout the body including the abdomen, flanks, bra rolls, hips, thighs, knees, calves, ankles, arms, and neck.In properly selected patients, liposuction of the anterior thigh can be performed successfully by an experienced surgeon. Please see an experienced, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for an evaluation.Warmest wishes,Larry Fan, MD
