I love the way my nose looks when you look at it from the front, but when I turn to the side, I have a dorsal hump and my nostrils on the side profile are too long and so is my tip . I want my tip smaller and my nose smaller in general, but I want to keep the same everything from my nose from the front. Is this possible?
Answer: Changing profile but not front view Thank you for writing and sharing your pictures. It is possible to change the profile, particularly the upper 2/3 of the nose, with minimal change to the tip of the nose. In your comments, however, you mention making the tip smaller. Obviously this will change the tip shape a little in all views. The most important thing to remember in rhinoplasty is that each part of the nose relates to the other parts -- so lowering the bridge will change how you see the tip. In some cases, the tip shape should be changed to match the height and width of the bridge after reducing a hump. Best of luck moving forward!

Answer: Limited rhinoplasty changes It is entirely possible to perform a more limited rhinoplasty and address your concerns such as reducing the tip size and taking the hump down. In fact, the less surgery that is done to the nose, the more predictable is the outcome and the less it looks different to other people as well. I would recommend consultation with a board certified facial plastic surgeon in your area with expertise in rhinoplasty surgery. Good luck in your area.

Answer: Rhinoplasty and profile Thank you for your question and yours is a common question. I do believe you could improve your profile with minimal change to the front of your nose. It does appear on the front photograph that you have a mild contour irregularity that might improve with a rhinoplasty, but I doubt that the appearance of your nose looking straight on would change dramatically. Please see a board-certified plastic surgeon experienced in rhinoplasty, and good luck!

Answer: Rhinoplasty Thank you for your question. I would say both yes and no. Changing anything on the nose on a certain viewpoint will change it in another. For example, removing the dorsal hump on the side view will usually cause the nose to appear a bit wider on the front view. Moreover, in order to avoid complications from removing the hump, often the bony sides of the nose need to be broken and moved inward. However, keeping the nasal tip cartilages the same is definitely a possibility. The most important thing you can do is have a careful discussion with your surgeon regarding your goals to make sure you're both on the same page. Best of luck to you!

Answer: Rhinoplasty to improve nasal shape... When you work on the nasal tip, it will change the front view, but only needs to change a little. The bump can certainly be taken down, but to decrease the length of the nose, the tip needs to be addressed. Often times, this can be done while not making the tip too thin (which would change the appearance more). Be sure to see a rhinoplasty specialist that can do computer imaging at the same time so you can decide what you like.
