The answer to this can widely vary. Each person heals in a unique manner but I would say you should have all drains and sutures removed by approximately 1 week post op. Most of the bruising is typically fading by about 2-3 weeks, and you can begin resuming exercise, etc close to a month. Keep in mind all of these vary from person to person but may help you as a general guide.
Thank you for your question! With regards to your healing time with a facelift, this can take up to 10-14 days to resume normal practices and a couple of months for the initial swelling to go down. 7 weeks for all of the procedures is more than enough time. Please bear in mind that the redness to scars can take up to a year to mature. Scars are a normal result of any form of surgery. Sometimes the scars are more noticeable due to their position or site, whether they are raised or depressed, whether they differ in colour and texture from the surrounding skin. Ensure before having the surgery, you full understand the position of your surgeons scars, which'll put your mind at rest. All surgeons will have pictures of their scars, feel free to ask them.Good luck!
At 7 weeks the bruising will be all gone, the swelling may last for several more weeks but there will be very little left and mostly likely not noticeable. The incisions may stay red for almost a year but should be easy to hide with makeup and hair styles. Good luck.
Hello LindaB,Assuming a trouble - free surgery, 7 weeks will be fine for a reasonable recovery - defining recovery as back to the regular activities of your daily life, and sitting across the table from someone who knows you well who cannot quite decide what has changed...Strategies we use in our team to promote rapid recovery if appropriate are 'twilight anaesthesia', good preparation and bespoke surgical planning, and avoidance of drains. We aim for our patients to pass the 'dinner party test' at 2 weeks. This is of course variable, and very much individually planned. An online opinion is no substitute for a consultation. best of luck..Jonathan A Britto, Consultant Plastic and Craniofacial surgeon, London UK
7 weeks should be sufficient recovery time. Most bruising and swelling subsides by 2 to 3 weeks. The scars by week 7 should not be noticeable although on close inspection they may still be a little pink. There may be some mild puffiness of the face which should not be too noticeable.
Thank you for your question. Congratulations on having a lower facelift, platysmaplasty, and upper blepharoplasty! These are wonderful and rewarding procedures. As with any surgical procedure, healing times will vary from patient to patient. You are having several procedures performed at once, which allows you to have one period of downtime. By 7 weeks post-operatively, the majority of swelling should be resolved, and the the incision lines from your eyelid surgery and platysmaplasty should have healed imperceptibly. You may still have some residual swelling in the face, and the lower facelift incisions may still be slightly noticeable. If you have longer hair, this should be able to cover the incision lines without much problem. Be sure to discuss your plans with your surgeon, before your surgery to help maximize your healing time.I hope that this helps!-David Gilpin
Thank you for your question. Although swelling and bruising can vary from one patient to another, most patients are ready to fully return to work in 2 weeks. Best of luck.
Thank you for your question. I would say that in the significant majority of cases, patients would be very comfortable being out in public at 7 weeks. The face lift scars could still be a little pink for a while beyond that. Depending on hair style, that may, or may not be an issue. Makeup can be used over the scars if needed.
I like to tell people that if they are not out in public in 7-10 days after a facelift, I somewhat disappointed. Of course, there are exceptions, but the bruising and swelling are fairly mild. Eyelid surgery heals fairly fast as well, but there may be visible inflammation of the incision line. How well your scars will fade in 7 weeks depends on your own individual biology, which you have little control over. Scars take several months to mature. However, I feel that by 7 weeks, most people will have healed adequately to attend any major social function they have on the calendar.
I would say the immediate recovery period after a lower facelift, neck lift, platysmaplasty and upper eyelid surgery would be about 2 weeks. Healing will continue after this time however, and it can take 6-12 months for the entire healing process to take place. Make-up can usually be worn by 2 weeks after the procedure and this should be able to conceal any scars that may still be visible.
