Dear Tara4realty, the most common cause for gurgling sound after a breast augmentation is air trapped around your implant at the time of surgery. That is called subcutaneous emphysema and it resolves spontaneously when your body absorbs the air. It is unusual to have that 3 weeks after surgery, it should have reabsorbed by now. Seroma which is accumulation of fluid around your implant, is very rare and it doesn't slosh unless there is air around it also. Your surgeon should be able to tell what's going on upon examination. If I was your doctor I would want to examine you so don't be afraid to call your surgeon for a check up, it will give you peace of mind and most likely it's nothing to worry about.
A sloshing sound three weeks after breast augmentation could represent fluid around the implant. This often improves with time but may need to be drained or aspirated if it does not.
are normal and they are expected to resolve on their own. If they don't, you should be asking your surgeon about it. If your breast size is not changing, nothing is probably happening but again, its something you should be discussing with your surgeon at this point in your recovery.
Dear Tara, Thank you for your question. It is best to get this assessed by your plastic surgeon. There are a lot of considerations, including if implants were saline, silicone, textured, smooth, shaped. May be fluid, may be air. Best Wishes, Pablo Prichard, MD
Hi Tara It sounds like you have a seroma. If small enough, the body should absorb this, but if you can feel it "sloshing" around then it will likely need drainage. Best done under image guidance to avoid puncturing the implant. Good luck.
