When dermaplaning, will oiled skin or clean skin deliver best results?

Hello! My name is Landry and I'm an esthetician at Aesthetic Skin - Winnetka. Here are my thoughts on the topic of dry versus oil dermaplaning.

"Oilplaning" versus dermaplaning has been a hot topic of debate amongst the beauty industry. However, I feel like a better question is, "what is your skin type?" Understanding your skin type will determine which style of dermaplaning is better for you. If you struggle with dry skin, the addition of a non-comedogenic oil can be used for not only a gentler glide but also a smoother and brighter appearance. However, if you have any active acne or sensitive skin dry-planing may be a better option or rather omitting dermaplaning altogether as it can cause already reactive skin to become more inflamed.

Dermaplaning with oil or sterile water is better then doing it on dry skin, it reduces irritation & redness.
Smoother Glide, Better for hydration, Better for Compromised or dry skin.

When having treatments it is important to select an experienced aesthetician. She/He will evaluate your skin prior to treatment to determine if you are a good candidate and will make any necessary adjustments based on your skin type.
