Tummy tuck/BBL/ arm Lipo – can ReyaGel be used for normal scar minimization?

Hi, I’m having a tummy tuck/BBL/rib modeling in a couple months. I saw someone that needed to use ReyaGel which is an FDA approved gel/treatment that’s used for complications like wound,healing, etc. I was wondering if it would be possible to use it on a tummy tuck incision even if there are no complications, just to minimize the appearance of the scar? If you can use it just to minimize aoor of scar, how many weeks/days out from tummy tuck would yiu ise it? Do we still leave thr brown tape on that thr surgeon would use? Can it also be used in thr incidions of thr bbl if one od the incisions is in upper middle buttock area between cheeks? Any other lipo incisions?

Hi, ReyaGel is primarily a wound-management product, and although it is FDA-cleared for certain surgical wounds, its use is not specifically indicated as a routine scar-prevention treatment for a normally healing incision.

For our patients, once the incision has healed appropriately, we generally use Scarex scar cream as part of our scar-care protocol. We do not routinely apply a wound-healing gel to a closed incision simply for scar prevention.

The exact timing depends on the healing of the individual incision, so we would assess this during the postoperative follow-up before starting scar treatment. The same principle applies to the small BBL and liposuction incisions, including an incision located between the buttocks. We would first make sure the incision is completely closed and healing appropriately.

Regarding the brown surgical tape, this should remain in place according to the postoperative instructions. We would not recommend applying another product underneath or over the tape unless specifically instructed by the surgical team.

Your tummy tuck, BBL and liposuction incisions would all be reviewed during your postoperative care, and we would guide you on when to transition from the initial wound care to scar treatment based on how each area is healing.
