SMP for hairline long hair (Widow’s Peak)? (Photo)

Scalp MicroPigmentation or SMP is basically a tattoo.  SMP on the hairline will not look good.  It is best to see your doctor for an examination.

SMP, or scalp micropigmentation, is a painless procedure that uses highly specialized equipment and unique techniques to carefully and expertly inject all-natural, color-tailored pigments into the scalp creating a completely natural look of the patient’s hairline. A typical procedure involves an initial consultation and two pigmentation sessions to achieve the desired results. You can wash your head the fourth day after the treatment and, during that time, avoid any strenuous activity that will prompt undesired sweating. Once the procedure is complete, the results of a Scalp Micropigmentation treatment can last up to five years.
In your situation, SMP would be recommended for a shaved head look, not to stand alone amongst long hairs. Instead, I would recommend a hair transplant.
The goal of a hair transplant is to provide fuller coverage while preserving a natural appearance. An assessment takes into account such factors as the apparent thickness and curl of your donor hairs, the color contrast between your scalp and hair, your hair loss pattern, your age, and many other factors. The state of the art technique is FUE (follicular unit extraction), performed with a hybrid blunt punch that minimizes graft transection to less than 4% while allowing for the use of the smallest possible punches to minimize donor site scarring while maximizing regrowth.
With FUE, the back and usually the sides of the head will be shaved down. Sometimes patients have a partial shave in which just the lower half of the back of the head is shaved, which either can be covered up by somewhat longer hair above it or if you have shorter hair it looks just like you had a “fade” hairstyle.  A no-shave FUE technique is also possible.

Hello, good question. SMP isn’t meant for definition of your hairline. It works better for people who have their heads shaved. Best bet is for you to make an appointment with a hair professional and discuss your options.  Good luck to you.

Scalp pigmentation when combined with long hair must always be used within the hair density. Never to stand alone. The use of pigmentation is to increase the look of fullness to the existing hair by blocking the skin complexion. If used in front of long hair there is nothing for the pigment to blend with. The pigment dots will appear as exactly as they are. Dark tone dots on the skin. As long as the pigment starts behind your existing hairline the illusion pigment can give will work. But, under your goals you will not achieve a natural look. 

SMP would only be an option in creating or shaping the hairline in someone who is going to keep their head shaved.  It can be used to add a look of density at the hairline, but the dots would need to be placed behind the hairline and clearly not in front of it.  It does take a full year to see full regrowth after surgery, so you may want to wait until making a decision on your next step in shaping your hairline.  Good luck!!

It is not recommended to define the hairline using SMP, unless you are going for a fully shaved look. You can add density to the frontal zone behind it and that gives a similar effect to having fibers sprayed on. However, dont define the peak using SMP as it could look obvious. 

Scalp Micropigmentation should never be performed on the leading edge of a hairline in long hair because it will be evident. It can be used behind the hairline to make it look fuller
