The 1.5mm transducer which Ultherapy released most recently is a wonderful addition to the Ultherapy line and can get great results with skin tone and texture at a more superficial level. The best results with this transducer are generally seen around the mouth, eyes, and decolletage.
Thank you for your question. Without a photo it is difficult to answer accurately, but Ultherapy is a good option for vertical lip lines and so are other treatments. Exilis, is a radio-frequency treatment that can help also. The newer injectables like Restylane Silk or Belotero are very effective and can actually be used in conjunction with either Ultherapy or Exilis. The is really not one perfect treatment for this area, and you should discuss the different options with your plastic surgeon first. Good luck.
I have had some improvement in reducing the vertical wrinkles above the upper lip that some patients have from dramatic pursing while speaking, or smoking. Others have it from bad sun damage. These lines are related to the muscle movement of the mouth during speaking or eating. Although many aggressive treatments including dermabrasion, fully ablative carbon dioxide laser resurfacing and deep chemical peels, which are not done commonly any longer, helped reduce these lines, they would in fact be seen to return with continued muscle contraction during the years after the procedure is done. Ultherapy delivers focused deep energy of ultrasound and heats the dermis. I have been using the 1.5mm. deep transducer in this site of the upper cutaneous lip for some time. However, my patients know after I discuss the treatment with them in consultation, that not only is it not a cure and that some lines will remain and some recur, but no physician can guarantee an improvement. Some patients won't see the good results others do obtain. The information provided in Dr. Shelton'sanswer is for educational purposes only and is not intendedto constitute medical advice. Ultherapy can help with the vertical lip lines around the mouth. Often, more than 1 treatment will be needed. I find that it works best when used in combination with other treatments such as chemical peels, microneedling, fillers, etc. Hope this helps answer your question.
There is no perfect solution for upper lid lines. So we often do a few different things to help with these. Ulthera is one modality we use for lip lines. The ultrasound will help to stimulate new collagen which helps improve the wrinkles. Other options are: fillers, fractionated laser, and infini - microneedling with radiofrequency.
When Ultherapy is used around the lips, usually the most superficial depth is treated and this can improve superficial, vertical lip lines. You would need to be examined to determine if you might be a good candidate for the treatment or not.
In general, Ulthera® laser lifts and tightens the skin and soft tissue of the face, neck and chest. To resurface lines above the upper lip, Fraxel® laser, or a dermal filler such as Belotero® or Restylane Silk® may be more appropiate. Please contact a board certified aesthetic dermatologist for a consultation.
Ultherapy is one modality that can be used for thisarea & issue. I would also recommend a filler, such as Belotero. This is my go to for vertical upper lip lines, as I have seen great resultswith this product in this area. Often with complete resolution of the issue. However, it will need to be redone after 6-9 months, as we move this area alot, and the filler will dissipate over time. The other option that has shownwonderful results in this area is skin resurfacing. We have the Sciton Contourresurfacing laser, and we’ve been seeing superb results in the perioral (aroundthe mouth) and the periorbital (around the eyes) areas. If you’re unable tohave the downtime that can result from a resurfacing laser, thenyou may want to try the Belotero/filler or the Ultherapy and have NO downtime. Good Luck!

Ultherapy is not advised in patients with autoimmune conditions, including scleroderma. I am unaware of any specific studies using ultherapy in patients with scleroderma. However, since ultherapy stimulates collagen, the concern is you would be at risk for developing scleroderma in...
Since I am not able to assess your severity of swelling in person, it’s hard to say how much more than average swelling you were experiencing or if it was not much of a concern. It sounded like you are experiencing more swelling than expected, however I have had a few patients still feel they w...
If you are looking for non- surgical options, Ultherapy seems to be the Gold Standard. Our patients are very satisfied. And it requires only one treatment.
