10 years ago I had a double mastectomy I had total lymph node clearance on right axilla and 3 sentinel lymph nodes out of left axilla. I had chemotherapy but no radiotherapy I have a lot of loose skin due to weight loss and wondered if I would be able to have an arm lift?
Answer: Arms If you have any swelling now in either arm, I suggest not having the tuck. You might do well with Renuvion and Morpheus to the arms.

Answer: Considering an Arm Lift After a Double Mastectomy Hello TMOXO. Thank you for your question regarding whether you can have an arm lift after a double mastectomy. Yes, you can have an arm lift, even though you had a double mastectomy 10 years ago with total lymph node clearance in the right axilla and three sentinel lymph nodes removed from the left axilla. Even though you had chemotherapy, you can still have arm lift/arm reduction surgery. Typically, during an arm lift or brachioplasty, lymph nodes are not removed. You are at an increased chance of swelling or lymphedema after the arm lift surgery. However, it’s exceedingly rare to develop postoperative arm swelling or lymphedema after an arm lift. Patients who have undergone bilateral axillary node removal are at a slightly increased risk. However, there is no contraindication to performing an arm lift or a brachioplasty in patients who have had bilateral axillary node resection. I recommend seeing a board certified plastic surgeon who has performed a significant number of arm lifts, arm reductions, and brachioplasties. If your loose arm skin bothers you, I highly suggest consulting with as many board-certified plastic surgeons as possible to find a plastic surgeon who can deliver the results you desire. Good luck. I hope I’ve answered your question regarding the feasibility of having an arm lift after a double mastectomy. Sincerely, J. Timothy Katzen, MD, FASMBS, FICS

Answer: Not Advised Severe, prolonged edema is common following an arm lift procedure, if you are someone that is already predisposed to edema and swelling with previous lymph node removal this reaction can be severe. I would avoid having any skin removed. Moderately invasive devices (energy assisted lipo, BodyTite) can be effective, but you may have the same issues with edema following these procedures.

Answer: Arm lift after mastectomy. Given your medical history of a double mastectomy and lymph node clearance, it is crucial to consult with a plastic surgeon who has experience working with patients who have undergone similar procedures. The surgeon will need to assess your individual situation, taking into account factors such as your overall health, any potential risks related to your previous surgeries, and the amount of loose skin you have. It is possible that you may still be a candidate for an arm lift, but a thorough evaluation by a qualified professional is necessary to determine the feasibility and safety of the procedure in your case. It is important to prioritize your health and well-being when considering any form of cosmetic surgery.
