Can I get an arm lift after DMX & 15 rounds of radiotherapy?

I’ve had breast cancer and had a double mastectomy and 15 rounds of radiotherapy. Can I still get an arm lift? I have lots of loose skin on my arms and have always wanted to get an arm lift.

Hi - good question. There is a theoretical increased risk of lymphoedema / worsening and pre-existing lymphoedema or limb swelling, and of delayed wound healing (especially if the arm lift scar will need to be extended into the previously irradiated area). If you think that the benefits of the surgery will outweigh these potential risks in your individual circumstances, then I would recommend consulting a plastic surgeon with expertise in both aesthetic surgery and reconstruction in order to get the best advice tailored to you.

There are lots of problems in healing after skin irradiation. Providing that irradiation did not involve significant areas of  inner or posterior arm , a conservative skin reduction by means of arm lift may be attempted.
