What are the disadvantages of having hanging columella?

Does it cause any functional problems in breathing which patient maybe unknown to so will correcting hanging columella improve breathing of a person? Are there any other benefits of fixing extra columella skin apart from the aesthetics? Thank you

Hanging columella can cause aesthetic discomfort, however, in most patients, there are no known functional problems associated with it. Hanging columella can occur naturally or as a result of the previous rhinoplasty. It can be fixed surgically if you wish to do so.

I some patients it could help breathing by lifting the tip. In most cases it is cosmetic. A hanging columella is a tell tale sign if s rhinoplasty.

Does a hanging columella cause any breathing issues? A hanging columella is purely a anesthetic issue. In some cases the tip of the nose droops along with the hanging columella. Elevation of the nasal tip may help open the internal valves and improve nasal breathing. But the columella itself when elevated will not.
