Hi there, I’ve been wanting to reshape my nose for as long as I can remember. I hate it. Unfortunately I got the worst parts from my parents’ noses. I teased in elementary school for having a “pig nose”. It is wide, upturned and with very prominent nostrils from the front. The tip I feel is also not proportional to my bridge. Do I have any hope of fixing any of these issues?
Answer: Wide, upturned, nose and prominent nostrils - Is my nose fixable The nasal areas that you described and would like improved can be addressed with an artistically performed natural appearing nasal surgery (rhinoplasty) through either a closed or open surgical approach. Keep in mind that following the advice from a surgeon on this or any other website who proposes to tell you what to do based on limited photos without examining you, physically feeling the tissue, assessing your desired outcome, taking a full medical history, and discussing the pros and cons of each operative procedure would not be in your best interest. I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). If you live outside of the United States, the surgeon should ideally be a member of the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person. Robert Singer, MD FACS La Jolla, California

Answer: Rhinoplasty Based on your photographs you would be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. The best way to determine what specific changes will look good on your face, and what changes are surgically possible, is to do your research to find the top rhinoplasty specialists and consult with several of them in person. During your consultation, your photos can be computer-morphed to show how the changes to your nose will affect your appearance. Consult with 2-3 of these surgeons in person and determine your comfort level with their approach, demeanor, and before and after results. Good luck! #drdonyoo

Answer: Yes, the nose could be altered You could benefit from a Tip Plasty which will reduce the size of the tip and make it more proportionate to the bridge of the nose, as well as Alarplasty (reduction of the nostrils), which will make the base narrower.

Answer: Candidacy for rhinoplasty? Hi and welcome to our forum! From your photos, I note a shortened nose with an increased nasolabial angle (turned up nose), a high round bulbous nasal dome, a drooping columella and a constricted columellar base. You appear to be a satisfactory candidate for rhinoplasty, perhaps with cartilage or bone grafting to increase length, as well as partial alar cartilage resection to improve tip definition. Visit a board certified plastic surgeon for evaluation and discussion. Best wishes...
