Why does my breast hurt so much after drain removal? Do I have nerve damage? Sharp, stinging, burning pain in breast.

While removing a drain may be a bit uncomfortable, it is unusual to have pain persist. You might want to touch base with your surgeon.

Thank you for your question. It would be helpful to know exactly what procedure your had and when it was. It is  unusual in my practice to have significant pain following drain removal. Most patients complain when the drain is in but feel better once it's out. It would be highly unusual to have nerve damage caused by drain removal. If you are in the immediate postoperative period the symptoms you are having should subside in a few days. Call your surgeon. This is something that they should know about. They need to examine you to ensure that nothing serious is going on.
