This is regarding fat pockets under my eyes. Are there currently on the market any injectables that dissolve fat?

While Kybella is a great treatment to dissolve fat under the chin, it is not recommended around the eyes. To diminish the appearance of fat pockets under the eyes, radio-frequency micro-needling (morpheus8) can be utilized. This treatment is able to boost collagen growth, shrink pore sizes, and diminish fat--providing overall skin quality. The results are finalized in about 6 months after the procedure, and additional treatments can be utilized to further diminish the appearance of puffy under eyes. Going forward, I would recommend you to schedule multiple consultations with board certified experts to discuss your aesthetic goals and craft your ideal treatment plan. 

There is nothing that can be used to dissolve the under eye fat bags. Any injection like Kybella would be risky and is not FDA approved for that area. RegardsDr. J

It is true that there are remedies that can be used to dissolve fat underneath the chin and possibly some other, "safer areas", but not around eyes; I have not heard of anybody using this approach to treat eye bags? It may be too risky. Lower blepharoplasty is a procedure that will take care not only of the fat bags, but also of other components (muscle, skin) that may contribute to current deformity. Consultation with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon in your area would be your best next step. Good luck.

Kybella is an FDA approved solution to dissove fat under the chin.  It is not approved for use around the eyes.  This would not be a good area to use Kybella - if you have a substantial amount of fat you would be better off looking into surgery to remove or reposition the fat. 

Belkyra or Kybella (depending on which country you are in) has been approved for use under the chin. You may find that some practices will use it ‘off-label’ on other fat pockets in the body. I would not recommend using it under the eye
A lower blepharoplasty removed excess fat and skin from under the eye to reduce the signs of eye bags. I would recommend that you see an experienced Cosmetic Practitioner to assess the area and recommend the best treatment plan for you. Many patients feel that they have puffiness and excess fat under the eyes but actually have hollowing Tear Troughs which can be corrected by Dermal Filler.

There are injections to dissolve fat under the chin, but they are not used under the eye.  Currently the best treatment options for bags under the eyes are lower blepharoplasty to address them surgically, or fillers.  Fillers work to temporarily disguise the contour irregularities by using strategically placed volume.  See a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more.

Thank you for your question. Kybella is an injectable designed and FDA-approved for use in chin fat, a.k.a. submental fat. It is not approved for use around the eyes, and has not been tested in this regard. The fat around the eye, including "undereye bags" is continuous with the orbital fat, which cushions the eye, the eye movement muscles, and the nerves and blood vessels that allow the eye to function and for vision to take place. It would be very dangerous to inject a substance designed to dissolve fat into fat around the eye because of the risk of damage to these structures, which could lead to blindness or worse. For undereye bags caused by fat, a transconjunctival blepharoplasty is an excellent option, as it allows removal of extra or prolapsed fat without affecting the rest of the orbit. I recommend having an in-person consultation with an oculoplastic surgeon. These doctors are specifically trained to address eyelid issues and are well versed in surgical vs injectable treatment of facial and eyelid conditions. Hope this helps!

There are, indeed, injectables that can dissolve fat. Although, in the US they are only approved for under the chin, they are being used in other areas, especially in Europe. However, no one even considers using them under the eye. This is because, unless you have a considerable congenital excess, there really is not extra fat there. Removing the fat under the eye eventually, as the area loses volume with age, results in a worse cosmetic result than what appears to be an excess now. Treatment is to elevate the cheek tissues by adding volume there and, if necessary, removing excess under eye skin, depending on what is causing the apparent fat excess.
