My doctor wants to use eight syringes of Bellafill on my face at one time. Is that too much?

No, it's not necessarily too much depending on what's needed and the number of areas treated.  If you're worried about your end-result, have you injector start more conservatively and return for subsequent treatments to fine tune your look. That's the beauty of Bellafill-- it's long-lasting and can be built up over time to create the end-result you are striving for.

The number of bellafill syringes needed to accomplish a good result varies significantly from person to person.  Most people seem to average 5 syringes though it can vary from 2-3 syringes to more than 10 depending on the volume loss associated with that patient.

I have used 8 syringes in a session several times... I generally would not do this on someone who has never had fillers before. I would prefer to bring them back monthly as doing that many can be a little frightening for a new patient... If you are in your 60s and have not had fillers you might need as many as 10 or 15 syringes for full correction . 

A good estimate is a kit of 5 syringes for every decade over the age of 40 if you are building mid facial volume. If you are focusing on one area such as under the eyes, the quantity will be much less. Because  Bellafill has a duration of 5 years, it is best to be conservative.  I typically do not do full correction on my patients at the first visit due to Bellafills longevity. A follow up in 4 weeks is made for continued treatment.

Bellafil is a smooth, collagen based dermal facial filler. It restores,  rather than just fills for natural, enduring results. Based on age, loss of collagen, and texture of skin can determine how many syringes you need. Typically the range is somewhere between 1 and 10 syringes per treatment depending upon the patient, their goals and their needs. The average is about 5 syringes.Bellafill is very tolerable and is great for all skin types, men and women.

Truth be known, you will probably need more if you are above 50. At one treatment, 8 is alot but very tolerable. There isn't much swelling with Bellafill because it contains collagen and doesn't contain HA. Cannulas will made your downtime very short.

Answer: There is no specific amount.
Recommendation: I recommend the initial injection to limit the syringe amount to any one anatomical site to 2-3 syringes. Then, following the patient for about four months, confirms the amount of collagen synthesized by the PMMA. The percent of the initial injection persisting is about 80% of the initial volume. 
Overall Volume: The amount or number of syringes to complete a facial volume replacement treatment plan in most patients undergoing standard aging can range from 1-20. In patients with pan-facial lipo-atrophy, such as from HIV, 35 syringes is the mean amount in one study.
Other recommendations: In patients requiring more than ten syringes, I strongly recommend the patient contemplating either facial fat transfer or one or more (even a custom made) silastic implant. The reason for this is a reduction of the over all cost of volume replacement treatment.
In summary, any number of syringes may be necessary to volume rejuvenate a specific patient. The choice of the type of volume replacement and the amount should be jointly agreed upon by the expert cosmetic physician and the patient.
