Does microneedling or Sculptra help fat loss in the face?

Question

My face has increasing pockets of fat loss in the cheeks. Radiesse and volume don't last more than about 2 months for me. Is there any alternative? I don't have enough laxity for a face lift at this point.

Thanks for the question.  I prefer Sculptra to increase volume, particularly in the temples and lower cheeks.  I inject once a month for three months, then yearly. Good luck!

Thank you for your question. As far as I'm aware, microneedling will not restore volume. Sculptra, on the other hand, will. It's what it was made for. Be sure to schedule a consultation to find out which product is best for you and how much product is needed.

Microneedling helps with skin texture, pores, etc. but it will not increase volume in your face. Fillers and Sculptra will help increase volume and improve fat loss. Fat grafting would be another option if you are an appropriate candidate. Make sure you see an experienced physician provider for an in-person consultation and evaluation. Best wishes.

Micro-needling, although effective for skin maintenance and mild skin tightening, does not address lost facial volume.  Sculptra is an effective, incremental way to add facial volume via stimulation of collagen production.  I describe it to my patients as "fertilizer for collagen production" and have found it to be both highly effective and long lasting (2 years plus duration). .

Sculptra is my preferred treatment for improving global volume loss in the face.  Sculptra stimulates the fibroblasts in the skin to produce collagen in the treated area.  Patients should see results from Sculptra in approximately 4-6 weeks and you may need multiple vials depending on the degree of fat loss and how your body responds to treatment.  Sculptra results will last approximately 2-3 years once desired volume is achieved.  If your loss of volume is considerable, you may want to treat with facial micro-fat grafting.  Please consult with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon for an in-person assessment!

Thank you for your question. I recommend using Sculptra which is mostly used for sunken cheeks. Sculptra is best for larger areas when you desire a significant amount of added volume. Unlike other injectable fillers, Sculptra is a volumizing filler that causes the body to produce new collagen. This means it takes longer to show results, but also that the results may last longer than other filler. Based on your photos, Sculptra might be a good option for you but I recommend getting an in-person consultation with a board-certified dermatologist.

Thank you for your question. Micro-needling is a great procedure for improving the texture of your skin but will not add facial volume. Sculptra Aesthetic on the other hand is a good product for restoring volume to your face. Expect 2 to 3 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart to get the optimal result. Sculptra is my go to filler treatment for facial volume loss. Microneedling, while a collagen stimulating treatment, works only at the level of the skin and so I do not consider it a treatment for volume loss. Microneedling will help improve skin texture, fine lines, enlarged pores and acne scars if these are concerns for you.

If there are hollows and facial volume loss in your face, especially your cheeks, then SCulptra will likely help. Sculptra is poly L lactic acid and is a biostimulator of your own deep collagen. It is injected by cannula and lasts about 2 years. Usually you require two sessions and more than one vial, depending on your age and the amount of loss of volume.
