I’ve had braces, twin blocks and teeth removed to correct my underbite but I am still not happy with the appearance of my side profile. I’m looking into filler/implant/surgery to help fix the issue. What is the best solution for me?

Answer: Chin Implant Hello, hope you are well. You have beautiful eyes and lips, but your nose and chin are out of balance with the rest of your face. Assuming your dental occlusion ('bite') is now corrected, I would recommend a chin implant and rhinoplasty. This would correct your microgenia (small chin) and nasal profile. Chin implants in particular are a great solution because they are low risk, customizable/precise, reliable, no visible scars (when placed transorally), durable/permanent (but reversible if needed), with minimal downtime. Filler shares some of these qualities, but it is not permanent and behaves like liquid (it migrates, dissipates, and you would require a lot of filler to temporarily correct your microgenia). Genioplasty surgery is also a decent option, but with more intense recovery and down time because it involves cutting and repositioning the bone of the chin, and it requires general anesthesia. I generally place chin implants in the office under local anesthesia, but if you are considering a concurrent rhinoplasty these procedures would be done together under general anesthesia. Answer: Looking for ways to improve the appearance of my chin The photograph from the side profile demonstrates a recessive chin profile because your mandible bone simply did not grow far enough forward. Consider placement of a chin implant which accomplishes a bony augmentation for a permanent improvement to your chin. Fillers are only very temporary in that area and don't work very well for that issue.
