I have volume loss/crepey skin on upper arms & batwings 60 yrs old, slim, weight loss, sun damage) and don't want large scar under arms. Am I a candidate for limited incision brachioplasty? Any non surgical choices?
Answer: Brachioplasty for Crepey, Loose Skin Thank you for your question regarding if you're a good candidate for limited incision brachioplasty. Thank you for your history and your pictures. In examining your arms, you have excess arm skin from the elbow to the armpit; there is no way to remove the skin without a scar. Creams, lasers, and radiofrequency will not do anything. Therefore, I vote to undergo surgery. A limited incision brachioplasty will care for the upper third of the arm skin. It will get rid of the hanging skin around the armpit. It will not significantly tighten the crepey skin between the deltoids and your triceps and biceps. The best surgery for you is a longitudinal brachioplasty with an incision from the armpit to the elbow. This will eradicate the skin and eliminate the loose, crepey skin. The scars will not be that bad. Please check out websites for before and after pictures. In my opinion, I would save my money for non-surgical choices. Sincerely, Dr. Katzen

Answer: Arms I would suggest liposuction with minimally invasive skin tightening with J plasma energy to tighten your arms with small scars. Then a treatment like Secret, micro-needling with radiofrequency, could be helpful for the rest of your arm skin. This can also be done to help maintain good tone in your skin with no downtime.

Answer: Considering options From the photos it does not appear you would have good results from the non surgical options. A brachiolplasty would remove excess skin and improve arm contours. The incisions are the trade off. By trying to keep the incision small you may not get the results to make it worth it.

Answer: Brachioplasty A pretty good rule of thumb for body contouring procedures is that minimal procedures provide minimal results. If you would be satisfied with a little bit of improvement then small scar or noninvasive treatments, such as radio frequency therapy, may be perfect, however, if you are hoping for dramatic change you will likely need a more aggressive approach.

Answer: Arm lift Based on these photos, it looks that only full arm lift with incision starting above elbow and ending inside the axilla will give you good result. Liposuction and skin tightening procedure (based on J plasma or radiofrequency) should be considered as well. Hope this helps. Good luck.
