Will I get the Tyndall effect with all fillers if I did get it with one?

Question

I got filler a year ago under my eyes and had the tyndall effect. I loved the result minus the tyndall effect which is very hard to cover up! will this happen again with a different filler? I am afraid to try it again.

Thankyou for your question. Tyndall affect is due to superficial placement of the dermal filler. Too superficial as long as your injector injects in the correct plane you will be fine.Hope this helps and good luck

Hi there,
Some fillers are more prone than other's to the Tyndall effect. Also, if the filler is placed too superficially it can happen. If the under eye filler is injected deep to your orbital bone this should also mediate the problem.

The way to avoid Tyndall effect under the eyes is to inject the filler at a deeper level. It is usually a placement problem, not a problem inherent to the filler itself. I typically use Restylane under the eyes and my patients do not have a problem with Tyndall effect. The tyndall effect occurs when the filler is injected too superficially into an area.  It can happen with any filler and really is a placement problem.  The filler should be dissolved and the area should be re-injected.  You should discuss your concerns with your provider. This can be avoided by injecting the product deeper into the tissue.

I prefer to use Restylane when treating the tear troughs. Using an appropriate amount of filler and and placing the filler deep should minimize the risk of Tyndall (blue-grey discoloration).

There are several fillers that tend not to cause a Tyndall effect. One such filler would be Belotero. However whatever filler is used injection technique can cause problems.

From my experience there are some fillers that can cause this problem than others. I like Redensity 2 filler, soft and less causing this problem 
It is also approved by health Canada for the tear trough area.

I am glad to hear you had a good experience with the under eye filler, minus the tyndall effect. 
The skin under the eyelids is some of the thinnest skin on the face and body. It lacks the fatty layer (subcutaneous fat) which helps prevent the tyndall effect. So any filler in this area, if placed superficially can result in the bluish discoloration. 
To help prevent this there are a few fillers that have been known to have less of a tyndall effect like belotero. Or the filler can be placed deeper in the tissue.

Hello. Thank you for your question. The tyndalling effect was caused from the filler being placed too superficially. Getting any filler, as long as it's placed correctly, will not cause this.

Do you know which product was used?
There are many dermal filler products used, some are more specifically based for under eye fillers, others are a little less forgiving. 
Did you have the product dissolved?
Depending how long ago you initially had the filler and which products were used and where it was placed. Knowing that you have had this effect before, your provider would most likely dissolved what is in there now, and start over, maybe using a lighter product and different injection technique. 
If you do love the result minus the tyndall, I would recommend dissolving the product and having it repeated.
