Regarding axillary breast tissue resection, are the scars quite visible, and not hidden in the axillae?

The scars for removing the axillary breast tissue are usually well hidden in the arm pit but sometimes can be treated with liposuction only.  I am not familiar with any plastic surgeons in the Vancouver area but I am sure there are some well qualified, board certified surgeons near you.

Without photos it is difficult to give advise. The axillary breast tissue is usually a combination of breast tissue and fat. Many times one can liposuction this area or if excision is required, it can be removed through a 4cm incision in the armpit. This can be done alone or combined with a lift. See a board certified plastic surgeon for an in person consultation/evaluation. All plastic surgeons should be able to do this with no to minimal scars. Good luck.

Thank you for the question.It would behoove you to be examined in person by a well experienced board-certified plastic surgeon. This examination will be critical in determining the best course of action.For example, if the area  consists of “fat” then liposuction may be an option depending on the skin elasticity overlying the area).  If the skin elasticity is not sufficient then direct excision of skin and underlying adipose tissue may be necessary. Scars can generally be "hidden" in the axillary area.If the area of concern, on the other hand, consists of breast ( axillary tail of Spence)  that liposuction  will likely not be effective and direct excision of the breast tissue and overlying skin will likely be necessary to achieve the desired results.Again, examination by well experienced board-certified plastic surgeon may be very helpful. This can often be treated with liposuction.  When skin resection is needed, the scars tend to fade and not be very visible, although this varies.Best of luck,
