Is Breast Reduction surgery outpatient? How long after surgery can paitents go home?

Breast reduction is an outpatient surgery that takes between two and half and three hours.  The recovery is one hour.  Follow up next day.

Yes, you will be able to go home after spending an hour to two in the recovery room. The surgery itself may take 2.5-4 hours depending on how much breast tissue needs to be removed. If you had a lot of breast tissue removed, you may have drains and these will need to be emptied by you and the amount of drainage will need to be recorded. You will need someone who can drive you home and stay with you to make sure you are doing ok for the first couple of hours. Hope this helps!

Breast Reduction surgery can be done as an Outpatient so that you can go home the same day about 4 hours post surgery, provided you are awake, alert, comfortable, able to walk, eating and drinking and controlling pain with oral pain killers. You cannot drive and stay at home alone for the first day.

This can be done very safely and most patients appreciate the comforts of home as opposed to the hospital environment.  It is important to have enough reliable help and support at home during the recovery.
