Hi, I am a 25 year old woman. I have had this big insecurity about my chin since middle school due to all the bullying I received about it. I want to know how to get rid of the extremely pointy and sticking out appearance. It feels like a bunch of fat or tissue in front of bone where my chin is. If I do “duck lips”, I make it disappear. Was looking for help.

We reduce the chin bone and soft tissue through a multipart procedure that is all done at the same time. There is a period of swelling afterwards but it heals well.

Chin reduction can help with a large protruding chin 'Witch's chin'. This is usually an abundance of soft tissue which causes a bulge. The procedure involves making an incision below the chin, accessing the extra soft tissue and removing it while taking care to preserve the muscles. Along with this some skin is removed below the chin to have a pulling effect on the chin and leading to a smaller or less protruding chin.

A chin reduction is a fairly complex procedure and
My best guess is that it’s more commonly performed by oral surgeons than by plastic surgeons, but providers from both specialties may be able to help you.
I suggest consulting with oral surgeons in your community to see what they have to say.
There’s generally skeletal and soft tissue component that needs to be taken into consideration.
You will not have Quality results from a simplistic approach like Liposuction to address the primary problem.
This kind of work is done by providers from both plastic surgery and oral surgery.
As a general statement, plastic surgeons tend to be slightly more soft tissue oriented while oral surgeons tend to be more facial, skeletal structure oriented.
 it may be beneficial to have several consultations before selecting a provider or considering having surgery.
In the end provider section is the most important variable so focus your efforts on finding the right provider for your needs.
Again this is often done by interviewing several providers before selecting the right surgeon for you.
