I had chin lipo earlier this year and as I healed this indent in my chin appeared. It has just been getting worse as my skin laxity has decreased with the THERMItight. You will also see there is a burn from the skin tightening, but this is getting treated and is slowly getting better. I am wondering what can be done about the indent from the cannula under my chin.
Answer: Treatment Options for Post-Liposuction Chin Indentation: A Comprehensive Overview To address the indentation under your chin following chin liposuction, there are several potential options to consider: Dermal Fillers: Injectable fillers, such as hyaluronic acid-based products, can be used to fill in the indentation and create a smoother contour. This is a minimally invasive option with immediate results. Fat Grafting: This involves taking a small amount of fat from another area of your body and injecting it into the indentation. This can provide a more permanent solution compared to dermal fillers. Microneedling with PRP: Microneedling combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can help stimulate collagen production and improve skin texture, which may help reduce the appearance of the indentation over time. Radiofrequency Microneedling: This treatment combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy to promote collagen remodeling and skin tightening, potentially improving the appearance of the indentation. Surgical Revision: In some cases, a minor surgical procedure might be necessary to release any tethered scar tissue and smooth out the area. Consultation with a board-certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon is recommended to determine the most suitable treatment plan based on your specific condition and desired outcome.

Answer: Possibly a scar revision. Incisions under the chin tend to heal invisibly. Since yours appears to be a bit depressed, depending on your examination, excising the depressed scar and resuturing the skin may be an option for an improved scar appearance. I hope this is helpful, and thank you for this question. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Indentation at incision after chin liposuction There are two reasons why patients can get indentations at the incision sites after liposuction. One is because of scar tissue that can contract pulling the skin in.Every stroke goes through the opening so that area can develop more scar tissue than surrounding areas. The second reason is that too much fat was removed at the incision site.If The cannula is pulled out of the incision every time the surgeon changes angles, then too much fat will be removed each time the cannula comes through the small area around the incision. This can be avoided by simply not pulling out the cannula all the way when changing angles or having additional incision points like under the earlobes on each side.Regardless, it is generally due to technical reasons(skill of provider)Improving or treating this is inherently difficult. If there is scar tissue, pulling on the skin, the scar tissue needs to be released, but simply doing so by itself will not improve the problem because the scar tissue will simply come back.If the problem is related to ins Volume because too much fat was removed then volume restoration could potentially improve the outcome. To differentiate, you could try having some filler injected in the area to see if this fixes the problem. If it does then conceptually grafting fat in the area could help but attempts at correcting Liposuction contour irregularities with fat transfer often requires multiple treatments and is often not successful with one round of grafting fat. These are difficult to correct And correction may not be possible.Any attempt at improving the outcome, especially with doing only Liposuction can potentially make things worse.Delivering consistent quality liposuction results is more difficult than most people realize. The number of plastic surgeons who approach mastery of Liposuction is in reality quite small.Best,Mats Hagstrom MD
