The specific answer to your question should come from your own plastic surgeon. In my practice you would be permitted to vacuum as soon as you felt comfortable doing so.
There is no absolute answer to things like this. Any answer is based on a hunch rather than science and should be taken as such. My approach is to ask my patients to limit exercises that specifically stress the core for 6 weeks and to walk somewhat hunched for a week. After that week, a gradual progression towards normal activity levels is pretty standard. I encourage walking the night of surgery so, theoretically, if you vacuumed hunched over, I'd say okay and good work getting up and about. But your surgery is a once in your life experience. Don't push it. Relax and know that your house will be clean eventually.Best,Dr. Pyle
There is vacuuming and then serious big time vacuuming I guess. Forget work and take care of yourself. You can walk about progressively for exercise and after 21 days you can do anything you desire. My Best, Dr C
Thanks for your question. As you can see from the other answers, applying ice packs to reduce swelling isn't recommended and likely won't do much to reduce swelling anyways. It has the potential to cause "frostbite" injury to the skin because some areas are still numb right after surgery. I'd...
Since the answer to most patients like you is surgery, many of the questions you are asking don't have good reliable answers. Most patients after a surgical procedure will have a seroma. Typically we know it will be resorbed over time and we don't worry about it. In the case of an...
Thanks for your question. There are different views on this but mine is to do the largest procedure first. In your case - as is most cases of massive weight loss - this would mean a lower body lift. This procedure excises tissue from around the entire body resulting in an abdominoplasty ("tummy...
Hard to say but I bet a few more months are needed before you feel better. You may injure or tear the repair work if you do too much too soon. Go easy!
You didn't share how large the hole is or where it is located. If it is along the incision line of your tummy tuck, it could be a wound which needs attention. If it is a small hole, it can be packed and watched until it heals. This is not an uncommon event, however, you do want to call your...
Hello and thank you for the question. I would keep the belly button opening clean and gently pack with Xeroform guaze. You should talk to your surgeon. Best,Pejman Aflaki, M.D.Johns Hopkins-trained plastic surgeon
