I got 320cc teardrop gummy bear implants back in the fall of 2017. I feel like they’re too small? Should I go bigger and when can I? For reference, I am 5’0 and about 110 pounds.
Answer: Larger (wider) implants on petite women will make you look heavier. Ultimately it is up to you if you want to get larger implants. You have to understand that at some point to increase the volume of the implant you will have to use a wider implant and wider implants on a petite frame will have unintended consequences of making you look heavier. I have a very different perspective than most other surgeons and would caution you against this -- larger may not look like what you think it is going to look like.

Answer: Bad Idea Hello,You are at your anatomic limit - look at how narrow your cleavage is. You don't want to end up with symmastia. You'll need to heal for at least one year to be reevaluated. Textured and shaped devices take up to a year to drop and fluff. Your results are spectacular. Best of luck!

Answer: Going Larger Congratulations on your augmentation. You have a very nice outcome. Sizing is really dependent on the patient and it is about what you want and what would make you feel more comfortable. The question for the plastic surgeon would be how much bigger can you go? This is determined by evaluating the skin envelope as well as performing breast measurements.I would recommend you follow up with your plastic surgeon to discuss what your options area. The tear drop gummy bear implants (Allergan 410) tend to not make the breast look as big as a round implant would. That may be something you may want to consider.Hope that helps.

Answer: Implant size and type Dear superunsure22,Breast implant type and sizing selection is a complicated process and requires a detailed consultation that includes a discussion of your goals, a detailed examination, and a lengthy discussion. But the decision will always start and end with the patient. When it comes to sizing, we have all of our patients find 3 photos of their desired breast size. We ask for naked breast photos because clothing can obscure the true size (push up bras). Next, we consult with patients and go over the photos and take detailed breast measurements during a physical exam. Next, we using a sizing algorithm to determine a range of implants that will work based on the exam and the measurements.Lastly, during the operation, we use silicone sizers in the operating room to see how the size actually looks in the breast. We sit the patient up in the operating room, while asleep of course, and compare the sizer result with their desired look photos. If it is too small, we start the process over with a slightly larger implant. We don't stop until we get the perfect match.Of all of my breast augmentation patients, every one of them has been happy with their size due to this detailed and meticulous process. You don't want to invest time and money into a result that is either too big or too small. You should discuss your concerns with a board-certified plastic surgeon and make sure that your surgeon understands your goals.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
