How soon can I go on a cruise after a tummy tuck?

Thank you for your question regarding when you can go on a cruise after your tummy tuck. A tummy tuck usually takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete under general anesthesia. You should give yourself at least 2 weeks recovery. If you want to enjoy your cruise the more time you give yourself to recover the more you will enjoy your cruise. Hi, thank you for your question. You can certainly go on a cruise 7 months after your procedure. It is likely that you will be able to go on a cruise 6-8 weeks after the tummy tuck. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to review the procedure and your options. I hope this helps. Thank you for your question.  The answer to your question is yes.  7 months is long enough after a tummy tuck to vacation.  Typically I tell patients its about 10-14 days of downtime around the house, up and moving, 4 weeks of no heavy lifting or working out.   Swelling typically lasts about 6-8 months but that is swelling the patient is aware of not necessarily anybody else.  Best of luck to you. 

If healing is satisfactory you should be able to go on a cruise 6 weeks after a tummy tuck, and most other procedures.  In 6 weeks the scars are strong enough so they do not break down.  But for a year after a tummy tuck, or any surgery, you should hide your scars from the sun, and use sunblock.

Travelling after an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) increases the risks of
complications such as wound dehiscence, and infection. Therefore, I
would strongly suggest you avoid traveling at least the first 2 months after surgery. Best

Thank you for your question.  Seven months is a sufficient amount of time to recover from a tummy tuck before going on a cruise. You should follow up with your surgeon if you have any questions or concerns during the recovery process.

Thank you for your question.If you are planning on 7 months, that is plenty of healing time. You should not have a problem with going on a cruise after a tummy tuck. I would not go any sooner than 2 months after surgery, because you will still have swelling.

Seven months is more than adequate for recovery from a non-eventful TT before taking a cruise. You should allow at least 3 weeks before getting back to exercises such as cycling, running, Pilates, yoga, surfing, swimming, golf, tennis, and limited weight lifting < than 20 pounds. The board certified PS who performs your TT is the best resource to answer this question as he/she will know how you are healing.
