Swelling and redness is expected after your microneedling procedure and normally last for 2 days, by day 3 your skin should be calming down. You should never use olive oil or vaseline after microneedling, these products are very occlusive and will not allow the skin to breathe and heal correctly.. We send the patient home with plasma on the skin, and a post procedure epidermal repair cream. Your provider should have discussed your post care with you during your visit. I would recommend following up with your provider or purchasing a post procedure product such as, ZO Medical Revitatrol. Hope this helps!

Good morning and thank you for your question! An aggressive microneedling treatment can leave your skin feeling "raw" and inflamed for a few days. However, I would not suggest applying olive oil or Vaseline to the skin. Both of these can be very occlusive and prohibit the skin from healing properly. You physician or esthetician should have given you post-care instructions and post-treatment product recommendations. I would suggest using a gentle cleanser followed by a calming moisturizer and a sunscreen. You don't want to use anything that is going to irritate the skin. It is best to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist before and after any microneedling treatments.
