I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist for after care. I recommend silicone gel with growth factors and hyperbaric oxygen to promote healing. The redness can be improved with lasers (Excel V, ProYellow). I don't recommend trying to improve this yourself, see an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Good morning and thank you for your question! I would recommend waiting until your skin completely heals from the trauma of the burn that you obtained. I always suggest waiting at least 6 months after a burn to get any aggressive treatments, including microneedling. Any aggressive treatments done on the skin before healing is complete could cause further damage to the area being treated. It is imperative that you wear sunscreen to help prevent any darkening of the area. I would recommend using a scar gel to help prevent any scarring that could occur. I am sorry you have this on your face and can understand that you want it gone.  However, I would not recommend doing any aggressive treatments (including microneedling) until the skin is completely healed.  I tell my patients that we usually need to wait about 10 months after a trauma before aggressively treating the scar.  In the meantime, it is very important that you keep the area covered with sunscreen so that no additional burning occurs.  You can also use products with Vitamin K to help improve the redness.
Once ten months or so have passed and the area is completely healed, then microneedling will be a good option.  Be sure that you get a consultation and treatment plan from a physician before proceeding.

Micro needling may be done on skin that is well healed but should not be done on traumatized skin. Once the dermatologist has determined that the skin is suitable for microneedling, he or she will allow you to have the procedure.
