1 month post op, I have a big tip after Rhinoplasty. Is this normal?

hi I had a rhinoplasty one month a go but the tip of my nose is so big and wired I even can see a round shape that i never had when I asked the doctor he said it will change , I know that the tip will change 6 to one year but the problem that how much it can change ?

Jam123jam,One month after surgery is still very early in your healing process. There is still a large fluid buildup in your nose and swelling from the procedure. The tip of your nose will most likely look large and feel firm now and for months to come but I believe this will decrease gradually with time. The tip of your nose is often one of the more swollen parts after surgery, therefore you must be patient.Hope this helps!Dr. Ali Sajjadian

I month is still soon after surgery, and there is still swelling present. In general, 70% of the swelling resolves after the first 3 months and the remainder goes down over time. It can take 18-24 months to see the final result of the surgery. The tip is generally the last to come around. I would recommend giving it some time and see how you continue to heal. Your surgeon should be able to answer any questions in the meantime, as he/she knows the details of your procedure. I hope this helps, and best of luck.

Dear Jam123jam,Post-op swelling is very common at the tip region. It is frustrating for the patients to have to wait for the final result, but this is a very common issue. I would follow your surgeon's post-op instructions and be patient. It will fluctuate depending on your level of activity.

Your surgeon will have a good idea as to how much your nose will change.  He saw the final result at the end of surgery, and before he positioned the splint.  It does take weeks to months for the swelling to subside.  Pre-op photos would be useful to compare to how you look at this stage.  Discuss this with your surgeon, and follow his post operative instructions for your best result.  Best wishes!
