Can I have a breast lift without implants?

Dear Hippyfreak,My preferred lift is a lollipop lift when a periareolar won't do (ie greater than 2cm lift required). The lollipop technique was created by a Canadian plastic surgeon named Elizabeth Hall-Findley and treats the breast as a three dimensional structure instead of two dimensions (anchor - lift). Most importantly it does not require the horizontal component scars that the anchor-lift requires and breasts appear much more natural, lifted, and less boxy. Lastly, the lift lasts longer because the lollipop doesn't rely on the skin to hold the breast up, its actually breast tissue thats being brought together to support the breast and hence improves longevity. Daniel Barrett, MD

Thank you for your question. You would definitely benefit from a breast lift, which reduces the skin envelope while reshaping the breast tissue into a more youthful and perky shape.  Sometimes implants can also be added for more volume but they're not necessary in your case.  A question I often ask my patients is if you like the way you look in a push-up bra. If so then you have adequate volume and might just need a lift. That said, you definitely have to choose your surgeon correctly and make sure that he/she has the training and experience to meet your goals with absolute safety.  A key quality indicator is Board Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.  Don’t settle for less than a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with specialized expertise in this procedure.

From the photographs it definitely seems that you would be great candidate for mastopexy without implants.  You should seek a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon!!

Thank you for your question! Yes, it is possible to have a breast lift with no implants. Breast lifts alone and breast reductions are for patients wanting to decrease their breast size and have a perkier and lifted appearance. From the picture you have sent it seems as though you have enough tissue to make an attractive breast without implants.  However, the lift will make the breasts seems a little bit smaller.  Also, a lift without implants will not achieve a long-lasting fullness of the upper breast; for that, one needs an implant.  Best wishes.

It seems you are in an excellent position to go ahead with a lift without implants. You are starting with a good amount of your own breast tissue and should get a very nice result.

You are an excellent candidate for breast lift with small reduction. About half my breast lift patients do not want implants. And making one or both breasts a little smaller is not uncommon. Make sure you like your surgeon's before and after lift photos. Good luck.
