I had a breast reduction 1 year ago. They took 520g approx. out of each breast. I was wearing a 40D or 40DD bra (although my surgeon thought I was more of an F cup.) and I now wear a 40D minimizer bra. The surgery well and healed very well, however I am unhappy with the size, I wish they were smaller, and my back pain would be less. I am not sure if I should go in for a revision, or if I should just focus on loosing weight. I am 37, 5"7 and 190lbs.
Answer: Hello Hello, it's all up to you, if you feel that they are still very big you can reduce them more, but if you lose weight they can also decrease in size, I would recommend you start a program to exercise and lose weight and then if you decide if you want to reduce them more

Answer: Deciding Between Breast Revision and Weight Loss: Dr. J. Timothy Katzen's Guidance for Achieving Optimal Health Hello CSANDY in Edmonton. Thank you for your question regarding being unsure if you should get a breast revision. Thank you for your history and your pictures. You mentioned whether you should undergo a breast revision or focus on losing weight. You mentioned that you are 5'7” and 190 pounds. Currently, you are overweight. To become “normal” and not overweight, your weight should be around 155 pounds. Therefore, I would suggest you lose weight. Losing weight is multifactorial. I would suggest you diet and exercise. If you still cannot lose the weight, I would suggest you consider some of the new GLP-1 medications, like Ozempic. These can be dramatic and really help you lose weight. If your back pain is still there after you lose weight, then you should consider a breast reduction. However, it is more likely that your back pain is due to your overall weight, rather than the weight of your breasts. Good luck. I hope this helps to clarify whether you should undergo breast revision or focus on losing more weight. Sincerely, J. Timothy Katzen, MD, FASMBS, FICS Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon

Answer: Maximizing Your Breast Reduction Given your height and weight and that you mentioned weight loss as an option, I think that is the best approach. I think it's reasonable to lose 10 to 20 lbs and then reassess the situation. Your breasts may decrease in size. If they do decrease in size and you're satisfied then that's it. If they don't then you could consider a revision. A revision may entail another formal breast reduction or you may be a candidate for a less aggressive approach in the form of liposuction only. A liposuction only approach would not require any significant incisions and it's performed under local anesthesia in our office.

Answer: It is hard to predict if losing more weight or further reducing your breasts will help with your pain Csandy, Over 90% of patients with classic symptoms of large breasts have improvement after breast reduction. 500g is a decent amount of tissue to have removed, but if you have very dense breasts it may be beneficial for you to have more removed. Losing weight will likely not improve the symptoms if they are breast related, and if you still wish they were smaller this would definitely be a reason to see a surgeon about further reduction. Hope this helps!
