Implants removed & PS “lightly scored” the capsules. No contracture, thin capsules, implants intact, & drains. Post surgery, I noticed that I had a small bruise on the side of 1 nipple & directly under that there was an oval shaped dent. I was told to start massage 1 day after surgery. It hurt a lot so I stopped. The indentation is still there but has slightly improved. It feels like missing tissue. Should I massage that area or will I cause damage? Getting advice from my PS isn’t an option.
Answer: Massage You are still early in the recovery process and can expect more changes ahead. Massage at this point may help with shape. I'm not sure why getting advice from your surgeon isn't an option, but that is truly the best person with whom to discuss your recovery as he/she is most familiar with the details of your surgery and how you've been progressing through recovery.

Answer: There is a good chance this should improve. After implant removal the is often some early indentation that typically will improve with time. I would probably recommend that you do start the massage assuming your drains are out and you don't have any fluid accumulation in the pockets. Hope all goes well, Dr. Tucker

Answer: When should I start massage after breast implant removal? Trying to resolve a dent - 8 days since explant Massage after breast implant removal, especially for resolving a dent, should be approached cautiously and only under the guidance of your plastic surgeon. Typically, it's recommended to wait until the initial post-operative healing period has passed before starting any massage techniques. Here are some general guidelines for when to start breast massage after implant removal: 1. Consult with your surgeon: Before starting any massage regimen, it's crucial to consult with your plastic surgeon to ensure that it's safe and appropriate for your specific situation. Your plastic surgeon can assess your healing progress and provide recommendations based on your individual needs. 2. Allow time for initial healing: In the first week or two after breast implant removal, your body is focused on healing from the surgery. It's essential to allow sufficient time for the initial healing process to take place before introducing massage techniques. 3. Follow post-operative instructions: Your plastic surgeon will provide specific post-operative instructions regarding when to start breast massage, as well as the appropriate techniques to use. It's important to follow these instructions closely to avoid any complications and promote optimal healing. 4. Start gently: When you're ready to begin breast massage, start with gentle, light pressure and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated. Be mindful of any discomfort or pain and adjust your technique accordingly. 5. Focus on the dent: If you're specifically trying to resolve a dent or irregularity in the breast tissue, your plastic surgeon may recommend targeted massage techniques to help promote tissue relaxation and smooth out the area. Make sure to follow your plastic surgeon's instructions carefully and communicate any changes or concerns with them. It's essential to approach breast massage after implant removal with patience and caution, as improper technique or timing could potentially worsen your condition or lead to complications. By working closely with your plastic surgeon and following their guidance, you can help optimize your healing process and achieve the best possible outcomes.

Answer: Explant and Massage So sorry seeing your surgeon is not an option. I would ask the office for my medical records and see a board certified plastic surgeon. The new surgeon will want to review your records. Since you are only 8 days post op you will notice a lot of changes. Massage may help, but nothing replaces an in person evaluation to confirm.
