Is it possible to lift my lips and shorten my philtrum (17mm long) without a lip lift? (Photo)

Hello, my philtrum is about 17mm in length. I have seen before and after pictures of lip augmentation patients (the Russian lips technique specifically) and sometimes it seems that lip fillers can give the appearance of a shorter philtrum? Is this possible to do with fillers and would it be suitable for me? Thanks in advance!

lip lift will give you shorter philtrum. fillers can give the illusion if injected properly. I would use daily hydration and plumping (see emeragecosmetics lip essentials kit). everyone can do a little filler when done well really gives nice hydration and plumping. Best, Dr. Emer.

While nothing short of surgery (lip lift) would actually shorten the philthrum, lip filler, like many other fillers can be used to create optical illusions to get the desired result. So if the desire was to take the emphasis off of the philthrum, additional volume to the upper lip would achieve this goal. However, it is important to note that there should be an ideal ratio of the upper lip to lower lip, therefore, you cannot be over aggressive and distort this harmony. I would recommend seeing a dedicated Facial Plastics specialist who can discuss both surgical and non-surgical options to achieve your desired goals.
