The T Junction Scar Under my Breast is Weeping, Should I Be Concerned?

The inverted T under a mastopexy is the path of least resistance for any fluid trapped inside a mastopexy cavity.  It is a conjunction of three points and it is dependent, therefore if there is any fluid within the body of a mastopexy, it normally comes out at this point.  A seroma is usually injury fluid released from cells (in this case, as a consequence of surgery).  Since your fluid is clear and yellow and there are no other signs of infection, most likely this is a benign process that you should alert your plastic surgeon about. 

If you were my patient, I would make a small opening at the T and place a piece of Iodoform gauze to wick out the fluid.  I would change it daily, and normally there is some slow healing at this point which I treat with Betadine ointment.  Many surgeons to decrease this problem put a small dart from your chest skin up towards your breast to take tension off this area, but even then, sometimes a small breakdown with leaking seroma fluid can occur. 

The short answer to your question is, I wouldn't be very concerned if I were you but this is something that needs to be treated and your plastic surgeon will certainly want to hear about this.

Yes, you should be concerned and should see your PS right away. You may need antibiotics for an infection or it could be just serous fluid with no infection.

Thanks for your inquiry.  Do you have an implant? If you have an implant,  I would be concerned about your drainage because it could be a sign of implant or Strattice exposure.  Please see your plastic surgeon ASAP. 

Sounds like you may have a small amount of wound breakdown and fluid (seroma) is leaking. You should see your plastic surgeon as soon as possible.

I am concerned that your strattice graft may not be taking well and this is producing seroma like fluid.    I would followup closely with your plastic surgeon.   If this worsens or shows signs of infection, you may need an ultrasound to assess for fluid collection or removal of the strattice mesh to facilitate healing.

While it is not uncommon to have some breakdown at the "T" in some breast surgery, it is always best to be seen by your surgeon to be properly evaluated.
