9 months post op uplift and implants-concerned about scars my surgeon assures me they will go white bt was vague on time frames. They still seem very pink/ purpley to me, more than I expected for 9 months po?(go white when pressed) I'm having laser treatment and use Skin Medica scar gel morning/night. Also used silicon sheets/Dermatix gel with no results. Do the scars look about right and will hyperpigmentation fade? Im unhappy with the size of implants - would larger ones stretch the scars?
Answer: Scars fading after breast surgery Thank you for your question. Breast incisions can be managed using a multimodal approach:1) Scar massage - starting as soon as the surgical dressings come off and the incisions are sealed2) Silicone sheets or scar gels for about six months to year3) Embrace - a tension reducing dressing for the first 2 months4) Fractionated lasers to help blend the scar into the background - done as a series, starting about 4 weeks after surgery and repeated every four weeks for six months.5) Sunscreen to prevent the scars from darkeningThe main role for silicone sheets is to keep the incisions hydrated during the remodelling phase of the scar maturation. This allows the underlying cells to work in a more optimized fashion. The brand is less important but compliance usually follows ease of use. Silicone usually has less skin irritation concerns with use compared to adhesives. They can also be re-used. It sounds like you are using the multimodal approach and that your scars are healing appropriately. It is not clear what kind of lasers you are using, but you may want to include fractionated lasers.

Answer: Breast lift scars - will they fade? Concerned. Hyperpigmentation. Hello! Thank you for your question. It is common for scars to fully mature for up to a year. In the meantime, there are a few things that may help to ameliorate your incision/scar. The most proven (as well as cheapest) modality is simple scar massage. Applying pressure and massaging the well-healed scar has been shown to improve the appearance as it breaks up the scar tissue, hopefully producing the finest scar as possible. Other things that have been shown to add some benefit are silicone sheets, hydration, and topical steroids. In addition, avoidance of direct sunlight to the incision will significantly help the appearance as they tend to discolor with UV light during the healing process. If unsightly scars are still present after approximately a year's time, other things that your surgeon may consider are intralesional steroid injections, laser, or just surgical revision of the scar itself. Hope that this helps! Best wishes for a wonderful result!

Answer: Scar pigmentation
Congratulations on a very nice result. The scars seem young still, usually the reddish color goes away after 6 months to a year. In the meantime, I would use a silicone based product to enhance the healing process. Plenty of sunscreen and minimal sun exposure would also help a lot.

Answer: Breast Lift Scars - Will They Fade? Concerned. Hyperpigmentation.
These scars are very very acceptable for breast lifting. No the increase in implant size would not spread these well healed scars.
