I have just found I have abscess and infection in gum / root canal which needs antibiotics to treat but am booked in for Breast augmentation in two days . I saw two dentists who both said wait until post surgery to treat infection, my concern is that I haven't let consultant know yet ( but have left a message to discuss ) I am concerned he may postpone surgery and advise I treat infection firsts although I am not in any pain etc ... He is giving me a weeks course of anti biotics post surgery.
Answer: Dental infection and breast augmentation Sorry to hear about your dental abscess. While its disappointing, it is advisable to postpone your surgery and allow your infection to clear - this could take a month or so. There is a risk that an infection elsewhere in the body could cause on infection with your implants and result in further surgery to remove your implants. Listen to the advice of your dentist and plastic surgeon.

Answer: Breast Augmentation and Infection Thank you very much for your question.Ultimately, your surgeon will determine the optimal time for you to have the surgery. I would be very surprised if your surgeon was comfortable doing a breast augmentation in somebody with a known dental abscess that hasn't been treated. Yes, your surgery may be postponed, but you would avoid the problem of having an implant that gets infected.
