Can I Get Ultherapy ?

I suffer from cold sores and shingles on my face. Would Ultherapy bring them out?

Cold sores are quite common problems in the general population. Our office allows patients with a cold sore history to undergo Ultherapy, provided pre treatment prophylaxis is prescribed.

The amount of heat generated from Ulthera could cause an outbreak with cold sores. I would pre-medicate with an antibiotic on preventative measure.

You can safely get the Ultherapy procedure if you are not currently having an outbreak and take the Valtrex prophylactically a week before scheduled Ultherapy and never during an outbreak.

We have done many treatments on patients like you.  It just requires taking a dose of Valtrex before and a few doses after to prevent the problem.  If you sense that there is an outbreak coming on despite this, take a therapeutic dosing for the recommended time by your doctor.
