Cheek ptosis after Botox. Have I permanently messed up my face by doing this?

You will be fine!  It will just take a month or too.  Smile a lot and the botox might wear off faster.

There is no way that botox is causing your feeling currently.  It only lasts 2-3 months and is permanently reversible.  I suggest you see a neurologist to ensure nothing else is going on.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Botox can be a great solution to reduce the lateral canthal lines or crows feet.  However, if injections are carried out too low or too dilute preparations are used, the zygomaticus muscle could be affected creating a non-elevating smile and cheek droop.  Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to reverse this.  This effect will resolve over time; however, the duration of effect depends on the amount of units potentially injected into or near this muscle.  Continue to use the muscle and try to smile and this will fade in time.

Botox is a temporary drug. The body regrows the nerves that were affected in about 3-4 months. In some people it might take a bit longer, but it will happen. Don't be concerned about it being permanent. 

Your injection was carried down to low on the crow's feet. This was an operator error. Important to only seek out experienced board certified dermatologist, facial plastic or general plastic surgeons for these treatments to minimize poor outcome. If this is due to Botox, it generally wears off in 3-6 months.

Hello Whattodo9,That is not common to get the Zygomaticus muscle with botox for the crow's feet.  Sorry to hear that happen to you.  Just like any Botox, the results are only temporary and should improve.  For most patients, Botox only lasts for about 3 months.  I have had other patients say that had a benefit for up to 6 months.  But in the end, the muscles always return to working.  Unfortunately in your case it means you have an undesirable result for a little longer.I hope this helps and good luck.  

It is temporary and will resolve completely.  It is rather uncommon to inject so anterior and so low to catch the ZM.  Make sure you are going to a qualified individual for treatments and most complications can be avoided.  Good luck.
