There is no "one best" ointment.  Every doctor has their own post-op cleaning and washing recommendation.  Follow the instructions your were given.  The redness will take time to resolve.  

This is a common & quite normal due to inflammation. However, better to have assessment from your doctor to sort out as it is the only inflammation or any infection?For simple redness, anti Inflammatory lotions (Hydrocortisone) can help to reduce redness.Avoiding sun exposure is also important.It is always good to see your doctor for proper assessment & better management.Regards,Dr. M. I like to have my patients use a copper peptide spray which seems to help healing and decrease the redness a little quicker. You may try sleeping with your head slightly elevated with an extra pillow or two. Part of the process is the redness and hopefully should be mostly gone in a week regardless of what you apply.
