Over the past few years I have noticed what my doctor tells me is a lipoma on one side of my forehead. I have an appointment with a plastic surgeon to get this looked at in a few weeks as it is now becoming so obvious in photos that I'd rather have the scar. The thing is I've noticed a "ridge" in my forehead on the other side too. I'm not 100% sure it's always been there & it's now obvious I pics too. It's harder though, feels like bone. Could filler help disguise it? Or does it need shaving?

Answer: Horizontal scars for lipomas on the forehead
Thank you for your question. Yes, this is most likely normal. You may want to send a picture to your surgeon, just to make sure - but typically, swelling travels downward. So, if you had something removed on your forehead, then the swelling will continue to travel down to your eyes and nose....
There are different types of local anesthetics used for lipoma removal. The numbness from longterm anesthetic should wear off within 24 hours at the most. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian#Realself100 Surgeon
Lipomas can occur after tissue trauma. Surgical removal is relatively simple if performed early in its development. Best, Dr. KaramanoukianRealself100 Surgeon
