I am 5ft4 and weigh 164kg (BMI is 23.5) I am scheduled to have a BBL in Spain, and i really want to know if there will be a limit to how much fat can be removed from my body. I have paid to have fat taken from my arms and legs because i hate their current size, but I want to know if this will impact on how much fat will be taken from the other areas (e.g. my back, flanks etc.). Will there be a maximum amount related to my body weight?
Answer: BodyTite and Fat Transfer Safety first - the amount of total fluid (fat and body fluid)that can be removed safely depends on many things but generally speaking should not exceed 5 liters. Removed fat can be moved to areas where more fat is desirable. BodyTite is a procedure where the fat is removed and skin is tightened. I have been performing BodyTite Liposuction for over 7 years and it is a great technique for fat removal as well as skin tightening. Please make sure that you see an experienced doctor for a thorough consultation and assessment prior to undergoing any treatments.Best regards and I hope this helps, Dr. Sapijaszko (Fellow, American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery)

Answer: In the EU, is there a maximum amount of fat that can be removed through lipo for a patient who is not 'overweight'? Thanks for your question. While you can liposuction several areas at once there is a limit to how much fat can be removed safely. Risks from liposuction increase significantly when over 5 liters of fat are suctioned out. We usually stay below this limit for patient safety. We’ve found that we’re able to achieve dramatic improvements for our patients with 2 to 4 liters of liposuction, depending on their needs.

Answer: Safety First! I appreciate your concern, however when considering any elective cosmetic procedure, your safety should be the first priority! Most board-certified plastic surgeons would not consider removing more than 4-5 L of fat in one outpatient setting for safety purposes. It appears from your photos that you should fall well below that number. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon for safety reasons and to increase your chances of the best possible result. Good luck.

Answer: N the EU, is there a maximum amount of fat that can be removed through lipo for a patient who is not 'overweight'? Hello dear! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. Based on your pictures, you are a good candidate for standard liposuction, to improve your abdomen, back and flanks, and I think you'll get very good results. The maximum amount of fat that can be taken from a patient es 5L. In general, you need to be physically healthy and at a stable weight, have realistic expectations, be a non-smoker and your BMI needs to be 30 or less. I recommend you to make an appointment with a board certified plastic surgeon to talk about your goals and anything you need to know. Good luck :)
