5 weeks post blepharoplasty, do you think this double fold will resolve in time? (photos)

Question

I am 5 week post blethroplasty surgery. My left eye was more swollen. When obvious swelling went, I’m left with a double fold at the crease and a not as neat looking scar as the other side. Wk 3 started massage on area which does feel like it’s helping bumps, but it’s not improving how the fold looks. I have a follow up appointment in 2 week but would really appreciate some feedback just now on if this type of fold is normal at this stage and should resolve, or if It is likely to stay like this?

There is no proper attachment between the upper eyelid crease and the deeper levator aponeurosis.  As a result, then the eyelid opens, the skin folds this way.  At the eyelid heals, this situation will persist.  The good news is that the crease can be lowered and an anchor blepharoplasty performed to make a new hard crease. The bad news is that I know of no surgeons in the UK who can perform this revisional work.

You are still in the process of healing and what you are seeing are not your final results yet. There will still be some significant changes as you heal. follow up with your surgeon regularly to avoid any complication.

So, the puffiness causing the overhang is completely normal at 5-10 weeks. It will settle for sure as will the colour of the scar. I am sure your surgeon has plans to see you in the next few weeks so ask what can be done to reduce swelling and help the scar settle faster but don't worry, things will improve over time. Hope that helps Adam Goodwin
